Actress Nikki Reed, best known for representing vampire ‘Rosalie Hale’ in ‘The Twilight Saga’ shared a sunset picture through Instagram and made a lengthy statement along with it.
Reed, working for environmental issues by donating her social media every Sunday to different people to talk about nature, made mention of intersectional environmentalism and wrote:
“Part of my journey and reflection in truly understanding the history of racial injustice is understanding that we actually cannot talk about things like carbon pricing and the environment OR sustainable fashion without intersectional environmentalism. (…)”
Then, the ‘Thirteen’ star and co-writer expressed her intention to support black voices, who are environmentalists and racial advocate:
“I’d like to put a stronger emphasis on intersectional environmentalism and I am now turning my Sunday feed over to black voices and conversations surrounding education on racial advocacy and sustainability from youth leaders, environmentalists, and experts in the sustainability space.”
Later, Reed introduced Samantha from Red Carpet Green Dress, which “is a women-led global change-making organization” and added:
“Last month she and I spent hours on zoom discussing areas to change and ways to be active participants in one of the most moving and connected conversations I’ve ever had with a fellow earth advocate. We will be sharing this with you in the coming weeks. But until then, please welcome Samata here, as she will be taking over the next post to share some much-needed perspective and wisdom. Please follow her over at @iam_samata, learn from her work, and share her posts (with permission of course) 🌎…”
