The introduction of new characters and storylines in the MCU raised questions about who will return for the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films. Kevin Feige discussed the potential absence of certain Phase 4 heroes in a recent chat with io9:
“I rarely speak in absolutes like that, right? The notion of never ever seeing somebody again, we’ve got Tim Blake Nelson in a movie coming up next year, right? So, I never talk in absolutes like that.”
He went on:
“But the truth is, you know, we’re going to tell a story in these Avengers movies, and there won’t be room for 100,000 characters in it. So, choices will have to be made, that’s for sure. But that doesn’t mean you won’t ever see anybody ever again.”
New Projects Are In The Works
Previous rumors said that over 60 characters would return for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would lead the new team in ‘Avengers 5.’
Current plans on the story and cast are unclear now, but Holland is confirmed to return for another solo film. Feige shared about ‘Spider-Man 4’ production:
“Amy [Pascal] and I are working on it. We have writers who are going to be delivering us a draft relatively soon.”
Updates On The Upcoming Films Are On The Way
The details of the new ‘Avengers’ films are still under wraps. Announcements about the directors and release dates are expected at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.
Reports suggest that the Russo brothers are eyed to direct the upcoming movies, but Feige is cryptic about them. He told Inverse a few days ago:
“No, I can’t comment on it except to say it was somebody else a couple of weeks ago and I look forward to seeing who it is going to be next week. We’ll see.”
The San Diego Comic-Con will coincide with the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ release on July 26.
