Academy Award-winning actor Octavia Spencer took to Instagram the other day to declare that the highly-expected drama ‘One Night In Miami…‘ is about to hit Amazon Prime.
Spencer, who recently appeared in Robert Zemeckis‘ ‘The Witches‘ which caused great controversy among the disabled community because of Anne Hathaway’s portrayal, shared the official poster for the film, directed by Regina King and produced by Jess Wu Calder, Keith Calder, and Jody Klein. Alongside the official poster, the Golden Globe Award winner added a caption expressing her excitement:
“So thrilled for all involved with this project! Feels like event viewing this Friday!”
Following the post, the official Instagram page for Amazon Prime Video left the following comment by referring to its release date – January 15 -:
“Friday will be legendary.”
Starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, Leslie Odom Jr, Joaquina Kalukango, Nicolette Robinson, Beau Bridges and Lance Reddick, ‘One Night In Miami…’ was previously released in theaters by Amazon Studios, on December 25, 2020. After that, it was announced that the film, focusing on the meeting of Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, and Sam Cooke in a Miami hotel, would be released digitally on Prime Video on the second week of January 2021.
During its theatrical release, the fictionalized drama film, had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 7, 2020, garnered highly favorable comments from both the critics and the viewers. As the first African-American female director whose film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, Regina King also received praises for her directing.
