Octavia Spencer Says Viola Davis Made History On Academy Awards As The Most Nominated Black Woman

Octavia Spencer is going on praising her actor fellows; on March 16, one of the most recognized Hollywood actors, Octavia took to her verified Instagram account to acclaim another star Viola Davis.

Spencer posted a photo of the Academy Award-winning actor and penned a short note alongside it in order to send her congrats.

As known, on March 15, Davis received an Academy Award nomination for Best Lead Actress for her performance in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom‘ and broke the record for the highest number of overall acting nominations for a Black actress in Hollywood history.

In order to celebrate the news, Spencer, who is also the holder of the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award, released the following message:

“@violadavis made history today: The most nominated black woman in the history of the Academy. We have a long way to go, but let’s celebrate our sister because she’s burnishing a path for all our sisters to follow.”

Spencer, who captured media attention with her role in ‘The Witches,’ continued praising her ‘The Help‘ co-star with these words:

“Love you, V!!!! Send her love y’all: Being the first of anything is never easy. 🥰”

With her latest Oscar nomination, Davis also became the first Black actress with two Best Actress nominations. As known, previously, Davis received noms for her performances in ‘Doubt,’ ‘The Help’, and ‘Fences.’
