Actor and filmmaker Olivia Wilde, garnering media attention with her new relationship with One Direction alum Harry Styles, shared a post regarding her boyfriend for the first time, on February 15.
A day after Valentine’s Day, Wilde went to her verified Instagram account with a black & white photo of Styles, who is portraying ‘Jack’ in her upcoming psychological thriller film titled ‘Don’t Worry Darling,‘ and praised him with very kind words both for his personality and acting abilities.
Alongside the photo in which Styles is seen in an old Roadster, Wilde wrote that he is quite different from many Hollywood actors who avoid playing supporting roles in female-centered films, and continued:
“The industry has raised them to believe it lessens their power (i.e financial value) to accept these roles, which is one of the reasons it’s so hard to get financing for movies focusing on female stories.”
After calling attention to gender gaps in the films industry, Wilde stated that it is highly hard to find actors “who recognize why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight,” and then addressed Styles:
“Enter: @harrystyles, our “Jack” . Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant @florencepugh to hold center stage as our “Alice”, but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity.”
The director of the film, starring Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, and Nick Kroll alongside Styles, added that he jumped on their board with “humility and grace.” She concluded:
“Blew us away every day with his talent, warmth, and ability to drive backwards. 👊 #dontworrydarling”
Wilde’s post devoted to her boyfriend received more than 500.000 likes plus countless comments.
