‘One Tree Hill’ Sequel Is In Works At Netflix With Sophia Bush And Hilarie Burton

Warner Bros. Television will produce the new Netflix show along with some of the original cast members.

Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Danneel Ackles will return to executive produce a ‘One Tree Hill’ sequel for Netflix, according to recent reports from Variety.

Ackles will manage her role in the project through her company, Chaos Machine, co-operated with husband Jensen Ackles. The production team will also feature Becky Hartman-Edwards as an executive producer and writer.

Bush and Burton will reportedly reprise their roles as Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively, while Ackles is still in talks to return as Rachel Gatina. Other original actors’ involvement is yet to be confirmed.

Original creator Mark Schwahn will not join the reboot since Burton and some of the other ‘One Tree Hill’ actors publicly accused him of assault and harassment in 2017. The cast shared their experience during the show’s nine-season run on their ‘Drama Queens’ podcast.

The 2003 series’ story explored the rivalry between half-brothers Lucas and Nathan in the fictional town Tree Hill in North Carolina. The cast featured Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson, and Lee Norris, along with Burton, Bush, and Ackles.
