American singer-songwriter, musician, author, and poet, Patti Smith penned a deeply honest and beautiful poem for Golden Globe and British Academy Film Award recipient Bill Murray’s 70th birthday.
Smith, who is the influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her album ‘Horses,’ uploaded a black & white photo of the ‘Groundhog Day’ actor and added the said poem as a caption:
“This is
Bill Murray’s
birthday. He is
good medicine.
A ragged king, a
freewheeling bum.
Blessings on his
mom and dad
for having him.”
Murray and Smith appeared together on a TV episode of ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ in 1997. Apart from this appearance, it is not known there whether any collaboration between the two.
However, the black and white photo alongside a heartfelt poem made some of the followers think Bill Murray passed away, or something bad happened for the actor. It seems it will take a little longer for followers to get used to Smith’s style.
Followers also reminded her that September 21 also Leonard Cohens and HG Wells’ birthday.
