Highly-anticipated black comedy thriller film, ‘Promising Young Woman‘ hit the theatres as of the date of December 25.
The news regarding the release of the film, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival back in January, was delivered through social media. Official Instagram account for the film, directed, written, and produced by Emerald Fennell, released a snap of the lead actor Carey Mulligan in a nurse costume as ‘Cassandra “Cassie” Thomas’ and added the following announcement:
“Revenge. Served hot. Merry Christmas from #PromisingYoungWoman, in theaters today. 💋”
However, Instagram users who desire to see the film, starring Bo Burnham (as ‘Dr. Ryan Cooper’), Alison Brie (as ‘Madison’), Clancy Brown (as ‘Stanley Thomas’), Jennifer Coolidge (as ‘Susan Thomas’), and Laverne Cox (as ‘Gail’) along with Mulligan, expressed their disappointment regarding that the film is released through just theatres.
Stating watching the film in theaters is not possible amid the coronavirus pandemic, the followers left the following comments:
“It is a pandemic; theaters are closed; how can you plan this release in theaters when we don’t even have access 😡⁉️” wrote, an Instagram user.
“Where can I watch this if I don’t feel like getting covid?” added, another.
“It’s extremely disappointing to see that you are refusing to simultaneously release this on vod as well considering we are still in the midst of a pandemic. Do better.”
According to the latest news, Focus Features, which acquired distribution rights, will allow ‘Promising Young Woman’ to be released via online platforms after 17 days in theaters. So, it will be possible to see the movie at home in early January.
