Singer, producer, and actor Queen Latifah went to Twitter on February 2 to support the 19-time Grammy Award-winning artist Tony Bennett, who revealed the other day that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Latifah reposted Bennett’s announcement that reads “life is a gift – even with Alzheimer’s” and then wrote that speaking about his disease in this way is a brave action. Two-time NAACP Image Award-winning actor said:
“My friend the legendary @itstonybennett bravely shared that he is living with Alzheimer’s.”
Latifah, who is gearing up to appear in CBS’ highly expected crime drama television series, ‘The Equalizer‘ added:
“So people and their families impacted by this disease feel less alone. Visit @alzassociation for resources or to help fight to #ENDALZ ❤️”
As known, on February 1, in an interview with AARP, Bennett said for the first time that he had been diagnosed with the disease in 2016. During the interview, the living legend revealed that he has not been experiencing disorientation, depression, and rage.
As for neurologist Gayatri Devi, M.D., who diagnosed Bennett in 2016, said in the same story that:
“He is doing so many things, at 94, that many people without dementia cannot do. He really is the symbol of hope for someone with a cognitive disorder.”
Latifah’s tweet just came after the abovementioned story had been released; here is the tweet.
