Rachel Zegler Faces New Wave Of Backlash After Pics From ‘Y2K’ Set Go Viral

The actress is still receiving criticism over political comments and thoughts on ‘Snow White.’

Rotten Tomatoes recently shared behind-the-scenes photos from A24’s ‘Y2K,’ starring Rachel Zegler. Instagram users, set to criticize the post and the actress in the comments, referencing her promotional ‘failure’ for previous works.

“Most unlikeable actress in Hollywood right now. She’s box office poison,” one person wrote. “The more of her coverage in this movie promo, the less people would want to see it. RT & A24 should’ve known she brought negative impact in her last gig,” another said, referring to Disney’s ‘Snow White’ remake, scheduled for March 2025.

Someone else added, “You guys are posting her so much? Stop trying to make Rachel Zegler happen. She’s not going to happen. lol. As if.”

While some defended Zegler, most comments blasted her. The actress faced similar backlash ever since Disney announced she would lead the ‘Snow White’ live-action.

Early criticism focused on her ethnicity, with comments saying her Latina heritage made her unsuitable to play Snow White, who is described in the original animation as ‘white as snow.’ Zegler later clarified that in the remake, written by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson, the name referred to her resilience rather than appearance.

The controversy got worse when the ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ star described the 1937 original outdated for its love story during the remake’s promo. Her political opinions added to it all in recent months.

Her remarks on Donald Trump’s second presidential campaign and eventual victory angered conservatives more. Media personality Megyn Kelly’s even called for Disney to fire her, comparing the situation to Gina Carano, who lost her job after making controversial political posts.
