Reba McEntire has her sights set on something new: joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During a recent interview with SiriusXM Hits 1, McEntire shared her interest in becoming a Marvel superhero. The country star even revealed that if she were in the MCU, she’d like her superpower to be something unusual. “My superpower would be able to talk to animals,” she says. “Wouldn’t that be fun?”
McEntire also joked about her possible role in a Marvel movie. “I’d love to do a Marvel comic,” she admitted. “I wanna be like, a female Reba McEntire Power Ranger or something like that in a Marvel movie.”
Power Rangers is a Hasbro property, but Marvel published ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ comics in the past. McEntire’s superpower idea would make her similar to Marvel characters like Squirrel Girl, but some fans are already imagining a much darker role for her in the MCU: Mephisto.
Mephisto is one of Marvel’s devil-like characters and has been on fans’ minds ever since ‘WandaVision’ hinted at the possibility of his appearance. The character was referenced again in ‘Agatha All Along.’ Agatha Harkness (played by Kathryn Hahn) and Death (introduced as Rio, played by Aubrey Plaza) set up a potential storyline in the show for even more supernatural beings in the MCU. Mephisto hasn’t officially appeared, but it feels like it’s only a matter of time.
McEntire is known for her comedy work in ‘Happy’s Place’ and her older sitcom ‘Reba.’ She also has experience with dramatic roles. She played Sunny Barnes in Season 3 of the ABC thriller ‘Big Sky.’ In fact, this mix of humor and drama could be a good fit for the Mephisto role as he’s a twisted character with a hint of dark humor in the comics.
You can watch McEntire on ‘Happy’s Place’ on Fridays at 8 PM ET on NBC.
