‘Walk the Line’ marked the 15th anniversary of its release on November 18, 2020; and one of the stars of the film, Reese Witherspoon did not forget to say a few words regarding James Mangold‘s masterpiece.
Witherspoon, who portrays Johnny Cash’s romantic interest ‘June Carter‘ in the biographical musical romantic drama film, took to Instagram and posted a photo of herself with co-star Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Johnny Cash. Alongside the photo, which sees the duo lying on a couch together, the actor added a lengthy caption to remember ‘Walk the Line’ days.
In her caption, Witherspoon first revealed that her role in the film was one of the most rewarding experiences of her entire acting career. Then, she continued by paying tribute to the movie crew “for bringing Johnny & June’s love story to life:”
“From the stunning costumes created by @ariannephillips to recording all of those classic country songs with T. Bone Burnett, to the incredible scenes written and directed by James Mangold.”
The 44-year-old actor, who expressed that she felt transformed into a country artist while portraying ‘Carter,’ added that she will not forget the proposal scene in the film.
“How Joaquin looked with the light beaming behind him asking June to marry him in front of a full audience. You could hear a pin drop.”
The highly-praised biopic of Johnny Cash was released on November 18, 2005, and it grossed $186.4 million despite its $28 million budget. The film, garnered positive reviews from viewers and critics, was nominated for five Oscars at the 78th Academy Awards. For her portrayal, Witherspoon received an Academy Award for Best Actress, while Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for Best Actor.
