American actress, singer, producer, and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon appeared on the latest episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Program’ and told that her kids, 21-year-old Ava, 16-year-old Deacon, and 7-year-old Tennessee inspired her to speak up on social problems.
The well-known actress and show host Drew Barrymore asked to the ‘Big Little Lies’ star:
“What I really appreciate is that you are addressing social issues. You are addressing race, women’s equalities, Time’s Up. You are also really an advocate while you are finding these important things that are happening in our society and addressing them as well.”
Witherspoon replied Barrymore, by crediting her children for motivating their mother to speak out on social issues:
“Well, I have a lot of inspiration from having two teenagers in my house. Somewhere I read, ‘If you’re not talking about race and class and wealth and equality and social issue with your children they are talking about it with someone else.’ That hit me very profoundly because this is the world they are inheriting.”
After stating that talking about inequality and prejudice was quite important to protect her kids from inappropriate viewpoints from somewhere else, the mother of three mentioned her “position of influence” by saying:
“If we don’t take our positions of influence, whatever your influence is… you have the power to influence thoughts and ideas.”
