Reese Witherspoon Supports AI Use In Filmmaking: ‘Just Get Used To It’

She encourages filmmakers to learn about AI and use it to their advantage.

Reese Witherspoon says that using artificial intelligence in making movies is nothing to be afraid of.

Witherspoon joined a panel at PaleyFest for her TV show ‘The Morning Show.’ As per The Hollywood Reporter, she argued that AI in Hollywood is here to stay, and it’s something the industry should accept and learn to use creatively:

“It’s here to stay, so just get used to it. I think AI is not coming for your job; people who know how to use AI are coming for your job. So learn about it. It should be a tool upon which we lay our own creativity, our own humanity, and our own ethics. That’s a whole conversation — for women and people of color and people who are othered sometimes in those developmental spaces really need to get in there… let’s not be scared of it, let’s dive in.”

Reese argues the real competition will come from people who know how to use this technology effectively.

She is Concerned About Streaming Services

Reese said she’s concerned about the changes in Hollywood due to streaming services like Netflix. She questioned whether new actors today can become big stars like she and Jennifer Aniston did in the past, saying:

“Are careers like ours possible ever again? Are there opportunities for people to really emerge as a star? How do you know with no data transparency? How do we even know if something did well or didn’t do well?”

The actress says Netflix shares some data about the shows’ performance unlike other services. She claims this makes it hard for actors and producers to make decisions.
