Robert De Niro Receives Backlash After Harsh Remarks About Donald Trump

Many fans, even Elon Musk, criticized him.

During a recent interview with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC, Robert De Niro shared what he thinks about former President Donald Trump.

De Niro did not hold back and said that Trump was a really bad president. He also compared him to some of history’s worst leaders. He said he’s worried Trump might become president again as that would be very bad for the country:

“Historically, from what I see, in Nazi Germany they had it with Hitler. They don’t take him seriously. Looks like a clown. Acts like a clown. Mussolini, same thing. These guys, I don’t know why, they look like clowns. Somehow people, that element of society, identifies with them. It would be chaos beyond our imagination. There’s no mystery about him. He’s right out front, and what he says is what it’ll be if he becomes president.”

De Niro also made it clear that he would never want to play Trump in a movie because he finds nothing good about him:

“Never. There’s nothing about him — there’s not one redeeming thing in him that I can see. I don’t think they understand how dangerous it will be if he ever, God forbid, becomes president [again]. I don’t think they really understand.”

He Called Trump A Monster

On top of these words, the actor went on to say Trump is ‘a monster’ who wants to do ‘the most horrible things:’

“It’s about right and wrong. Period. The guy’s a monster. It’s beyond wrong. It’s almost like he wants to do the most horrible things that he can think of in order to get…a rise out of us? I don’t know what it is, but it’s f*cking scary.”

Not everyone agrees with De Niro’s views. Many started to criticize him after this interview. Elon Musk also joined the conversation and defended Trump with a tweet:

“Well, Trump was actually already president for 4 years and his policies bore no resemblance to those of Hitler, so this makes no sense. In fact, with the Abraham Accords, he made some progress towards peace in the Middle East, which was definitely not high on Hitler’s agenda.”

De Niro says he supports Joe Biden because Biden is ‘the right guy.’
