Early rumors suggested that ‘Spider-Man 4’ would pit Peter Parker and Daredevil against New York City’s new mayor, Wilson Fisk, in a street-level adventure, but plans changed following the Hollywood strikes.
Now, the film is expected to come out between ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 1–2 and the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films. So, it will likely feature a Multiverse plotline as Sony previously wished.
Although nothing is confirmed, talks suggest that Marvel will bring other Spider-Men and Venom back to team up with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker against Knull in a story set after ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ According to insider MyTimeToShine, “Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will have a role in ‘Spider-Man 4,’” as well.
Andrew Garfield is already willing to reprise his part from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ series in the upcoming film. “For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into,” he recently told Esquire.
The actor added, “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
The fourth installment, rumored to be titled ‘Spider-Man: King in Black,’ might serve as a bridge between ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ It is expected to be released in July 2026 under Destin Daniel Cretton’s directorship.
