Rumor: DC Already Has Two Names In Line To Become ‘Lanterns” Hal Jordan

This comes after Josh Brolin and Matthew McConaughey passed on the role.

Josh Brolin and Matthew McConaughey turned down the Hal Jordan role in DC Studios’ upcoming ‘Lanterns’ series, but new rumors suggest that DC already has two more actors in mind for the character.

According to a scooper known as MyTimeToShine, Ewan McGregor is now at the top of the list to play Hal Jordan. If McGregor passes, the next choice is Chris Pine.

Josh Brolin was previously considered for the role. He was being eyed to portray a tough, older version of Hal Jordan. DC Studios reportedly wanted Hal to be a mentor to John Stewart. With Brolin declining, the studio turned to other options.

Chris Pine played Steve Trevor in ‘Wonder Woman’ and voiced Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’ He is said to be next in line if McGregor doesn’t take the role. Pine hasn’t shown much interest in starring in another superhero project, though.

The ‘Lanterns’ series will focus on John Stewart and Hal Jordan working together as intergalactic cops. The two Green Lanterns are drawn into a murder mystery in the American heartland. The show is part of the new DCU, which will feature stories set across different timelines.

‘Lanterns’ will be written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. There’s no confirmed release date yet, but the show is set to air on HBO.
