Marvel Studios may no longer use Kang the Conqueror as their main villain in upcoming movies. Instead of recasting the role, they might focus on other multiverse villains for now.
Cosmic Circus sat down with the insider Alex Perez for an interview. Perez suggested that Marvel changed plans about Kang:
“I have heard they want to focus on other multiversal villains before dealing with Kang again.”
When asked about other actors to play a Kang variant, he responded:
“It’s possible, but I’ve heard nothing of the sort.”
Jonathan Majors was supposed to play Kang the Conqueror in ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers 6.’ Majors was found guilty of assault and harassment against his ex-girlfriend, and he was dropped by his representatives and Marvel Studios.
Doctor Doom Won’t Fill In For Kang
Majors’ exit put a hold on the progress of ‘Avengers 5’ for some time. Doctor Doom was also considered, but it seems he won’t be the main villain. Perez suggests that it would not do justice to Doctor Doom to introduce him quickly and then make him the big villain in just a couple of movies:
“I really don’t think Doom will be the main villain in this Saga, given the little time we have to build him up. It would be a disservice to us, to the character, and quite frankly a waste. Doom deserves better than 1 movie to set him up in a post-credit scene and then big bad for 2 movies and then be done with him. Plus, I’ve heard they’re treating Doom similar to how they’ve handled Loki in the Infinity Saga.”
‘Avengers 5’ is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 1, 2026.
