Rumor: Sony Is Making A Live Action ‘Spider-Gwen’ Movie

Rumor has it that Sony Pictures is planning a new movie about Spider-Gwen.

There’s a rumor that Sony Pictures is working on a new movie about Spider-Gwen.

Spider-Gwen is a character from the Spider-Verse where Gwen Stacy (not Peter Parker) gets spider powers. As per ComicBookMovies, scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggests that this idea is still in its early stages. Spider-Man is pretty busy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it seems Sony is now looking at other characters from the Spider-Verse to make movies about.

Sony tried to give fans what they wanted with Venom and Madame Web movies. Venom did well in making money, but people didn’t like it a lot. Madame Web was supposed to be a big deal, but it didn’t do well either.

Now, Who’s Spider-Gwen?

Spider-Gwen first showed up in the comic book ‘Edge of Spider-Verse #2’ in 2014. Gwen gets bitten by a radioactive spider in her story. She then becomes a superhero and fights her friend Peter Parker, who also turns into the Lizard.

Bryce Dallas Howard and Emma Stone played Gwen Stacy in other Spider-Man movies. Hailee Steinfeld was the voice of Spider-Gwen in the animated Spider-Man movies. If Sony makes this movie, they will probably choose someone younger to match Spider-Gwen’s age in the comics, though.
