A new rumor suggests that Sony Pictures may be developing a ‘Silver Sable’ project once again.
This comes after recent talks about reviving the ‘Sinister Six’ movie. According to insider reports, Sony seems to be revisiting the ‘Silver Sable’ project. It’s not clear if this new project will be a movie or a TV show.
Back in 2018, Sony announced a movie called ‘Silver and Black.’ It was supposed to feature Silver Sable and Black Cat. The project moved forward with Gina Prince-Bythewood set to direct and a completed script by Lindsey Beer. But the movie was canceled, and Sony decided not to continue with it. There were plans to give each character their own solo movies, but those also never happened.
The original ‘Silver and Black’ movie was going to focus on Silver Sable tracking down Black Cat for the U.S. Department of Justice. Spider-Man wasn’t part of the story, but Scorpion, Tarantula, Chameleon, Tombstone, and possibly Norman Osborn were expected to make appearances. The film was also set to introduce an all-female team with Spider-Woman, Jackpot, Stunner, and Dusk.
Gina Prince-Bythewood talked about the project in a 2020 interview, saying that it was originally going to include both Silver Sable and Black Cat. “And then the decision was made to separate the two. Now, there’s a thought of, ‘Hey, maybe we put it on Disney+ as a limited series,’ but I loved it more as a film with the two of them. So, my hope is that one day it can still happen.”
There are rumors that Black Cat could be introduced in ‘Spider-Man 4,’ as a new female lead is currently being cast. If Black Cat joins the Spider-Man universe, that could leave Silver Sable to lead her own project.
Sony’s Spider-Man universe had its ups and downs. ‘Morbius’ and ‘Madame Web’ weren’t successful, but the ‘Venom’ movies did well at the box office. The upcoming ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is expected to have the lowest opening of the series. ‘Kraven the Hunter’ is also set to release soon.
