Ryan Coogler’s ‘X-Files’ Reboot Receives Stamp Of Approval From The Original Creator

Coogler plans to add new actors and fresh stories to the series.

Speaking to The Wrap, ‘The X-Files’ creator Chris Carter officially endorsed the upcoming reboot helmed by ‘Black Panther’ director Ryan Coogler.

During the interview with TheWrap at his art exhibit in Los Angeles on February 27, Carter revealed his support for Coogler’s vision. Asked if he would be directly involved in the reboot’s production, the director responded:

“I wouldn’t. Only as a cheerleader. They don’t need my blessing. 20th Century Fox and Disney owns the show. They are free to do with it what they believe. I’m honored that they came to me and asked me, not for my permission, but my blessing.”

Reflecting on the legacy of ‘The X-Files,’ Carter credited the show’s success to the dynamic between David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, who portrayed FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
