Ryan Gosling Reveals What Still Haunts Him After ‘La La Land’

After starring in ‘La La Land’, Gosling realized he wanted to take on lighter roles that his kids could enjoy too.

Ryan Gosling talked with The Wall Street Journal about a ‘La La Land’ scene that still bothers him to this day.

Gosling said he was dancing with his co-star Emma Stone in this scene, and he chose to hold his hand in a way that he thought was cool. But he later regretted this ‘awkward’ pose after seeing it on the movie’s poster:

“There’s a moment that haunts me where we’re dancing, Emma and I. I didn’t know this would become the poster for the movie. We were supposed to have our hands up, and I thought it’d be cool to put my hand like that. Even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool, I was sure that [a flat hand] was cooler than [pointing up].”

He Doesn’t Want Dark Roles Anymore

Gosling said he made a big decision about the movies he would act in from now on — he will no longer accept roles in dark, serious movies. He says he plans to choose fun movies that he can share with his family:

“I don’t really take roles that are going to put me in some kind of dark place. This moment is what I feel like trying to read the room at home and feel like what is going to be best for all of us. The decisions I make, I make them with Eva, and we make them with our family in mind first.”

Gosling says that working on ‘La La Land’ really changed his mind. He had a lot of fun in ‘La La Land’ practicing piano, dancing, and singing, and his family enjoyed this. The actor now thinks his roles should be fun for his kids as well.
