Ryan Reynolds confirmed during a recent appearance on the Variety ‘Awards Circuit Podcast’ that he’s currently writing a non-Marvel film that will reunite him, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy.
“I’m spending the year writing. I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh, and Shawn to do that is not Marvel,” the actor said but didn’t give further details or confirm if any studios greenlit the project.
This upcoming film will be the fourth project for Reynolds and Levy together. Their past collaborations include ‘Deadpool 3’ co-starring Jackman, the 2021 action comedy ‘Free Guy,’ and ‘The Adam Project.’
The actor is already excited about the new film, as he previously told Entertainment Weekly, “We have one [project] we’re looking to do soon. I would say that [ours] is like any relationship that is successful and works: It’s that two parties are rooting for each other. I’m always rooting for Hugh to score and win. I also know the infinite nuance of his heart and his mind and who he is. I can say firsthand that he’s a person who’s not just worth rooting for, he’s somebody who’s impossible to not root for.”
The trio’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ became a massive hit last summer, earning $636 million in the U.S. and ranking as the 12th highest-grossing film of all time. It surpassed Pixar’s ‘Inside Out 2’ and Warner Bros.’ ‘Barbie’ as well as DC’s ‘Joker,’ which was previously the highest-grossing R-rated film ever.
