Well-known comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen became one of the stars of the 93rd Academy Awards.
Cohen, best known for creating and portraying the fictional satirical character ‘Borat Sagdiyev,’ was nominated for two Academy Awards; the nominations were declared on March 15, by Nick Jonas and his actor wifey, Priyanka Chopra.
In order to celebrate the news that he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm‘ and earned another nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7‘ the actor jumped into his verified Instagram account. He posted a photo from ‘Borat’ set and wrote the following message:
“Thank you the Academy for nominating Borat for the second time for Adapted Screenplay and for giving us the award for hiring the most WGA members in one movie. And congratulations Bulgaria!!”
In another post, Cohen celebrated the cast and the crew of ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7.’ As known, the film, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Daniel Flaherty, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch and Eddie Redmayne, earned six nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards.
The actor, portraying ‘Abbie Hoffman‘ in the said film written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, wrote in the caption section:
“Congratulations Aaron Sorkin and the entire team behind Chicago 7 for six Oscar nominations! I am grateful to the Academy to be a small part of this morning’s honours and I share my nomination with the incredible actors of Chicago 7 who are equally deserving of this accolade.”
Meanwhile, Cohen’s wifey took to her verified Instagram account and congratulated her husband; in her message, she wrote that “It’s so exciting to see the Academy appreciating how difficult comedy is.”
