English comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, best known for creating fictional satirical characters, has been nominated for the Writers Guild of America Awards. He was nominated for Best Adaptation for his fan-favorite comedy, ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.’
Once the exciting news was delivered through the official Twitter account for Writers Guild of America West, also Baron Cohen took to his Twitter to express how much he is grateful for the nomination at the Writers Guild of America Awards which are presented to honor outstanding writing in other media.
The actor and writer stated regarding the nomination:
“Huge thanks to the Writers Guild for the nomination of BORAT SUBSEQUENT MOVIEFILM and to my incredible co-writers.”
Then Baron Cohen, who is lauded for adopting a variety of accents for his fictional characters, pointed out that the greatest films of all the times, including ‘Godfather,’ ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ and ‘The Pink Panther‘ also were nominated for the same award; and repeated that it was a great honor both for him and his entire crew. In his own words:
“We’re humbled to be among giants — Lord of the Rings, The Pink Panther, The Godfather — in being recognized for original screenplay and the sequel.”
As fans already know, with its original name, ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan’ was released on October 23, 2020. Starring Maria Bakalova, Dani Popescu, Manuel Vieru, Miroslav Tolj, and Alin Popa received also three nominations at the 78th Golden Globe Awards.
