In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Anthony Mackie shared that a “nerdy kid” working on ‘Black Mirror’ was “robbed 3 times” during filming.
Mackie said that one of the crew members faced a difficult problem while filming the season 5 episode of the series.
He said, “We shot this episode of ‘Black Mirror’ in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and there was this little nerdy kid, really cool kid, who worked on this, and in the course of four days, he got robbed three times,” Mackie says. “Every time he left the hotel, someone would come behind him and push him behind a dumpster and take his s—. So after the third time, he couldn’t leave the hotel, so he was locked in the hotel for two months! Sad little f—–. True story though. Nobody robbed me!”
The sci-fi anthology series, which began on the U.K.’s Channel 4 before moving to Netflix with season 3, changes its cast of characters every episode — not to mention its setting, tone, and content.
The series explores the challenges of modern society and the individual’s role within it, examining the impact of new technologies and the interplay between politics, media, and art in the current world order, often using satire or elements of science fiction.
