Sadie Sink Is Surprised That ‘Stranger Things’ Fans Cared About Her Role As Max Mayfield

Sink is currently on set for the show’s final season.

Sadie Sink joined ‘Stranger Things’ in its second season. Her character, Max Mayfield, went viral after becoming Vecna’s target in Season 4. The Kate Bush song, ‘Running Up That Hill,’ that played during her fall regained popularity in the summer of 2022.

“I really didn’t think people would care all that much about her journey,” Sink recently said of the audience interest in her role during a chat with Variety. “Still, I was kind of like, ‘That’s cool.’”

Her brothers made her aware of her social media popularity since the actress didn’t have an account. “I think I’m definitely numb to a lot of things now, which is a good thing. I think it keeps you stable,” she added.

The production of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 started in January 2024. Showrunner Ross Duffer mentioned that filming was halfway through in July.

Sink returned for the finale although Max went into a coma after Vecna’s attack. “I’ve been working all of last week, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I forgot how hard this show is,’” she noted. “You’re a team player here. It’s not about me. It’s not about anyone. It’s about the show and what’s best for it.”

The series’ new episodes will arrive in 2025.
