Sam Raimi finally spoke about the rumors around him directing Spider-Man 4.
There’s been a lot of talk suggesting that Raimi might return to the Spider-Man series. However, Raimi recently cleared the air while speaking to CBR’s Kevin Polowy. He said that he’s seen these rumors, but he’s not currently working on ‘Spider-Man 4’:
“Well, I haven’t heard about that yet – I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet.”
He even went as far as to question why Marvel and Columbia Pictures would ask him to return:
“Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man movies and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story!’ I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey again in it.”
Raimi then revealed if we may see Maguire in such a project:
“I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But I just worked with Marvel on a movie called ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’ So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.”

Thomas Haden Church Added to the Fire
Raimi had to drop plans for Spider-Man 4 back in 2010 due to script issues and timing problems. Not that long ago, Thomas Haden Church hinted that Raimi and Maguire might team up again for Spider-Man 4:
“I think Sam is going to do another Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire, and that’s the one that … They had an option for me to do ‘Spider-Man 4’ when there was going to be a ‘Spider-Man 4.’ They had an option for me to come back. So if it happens, that would be fantastic. I’m getting a little old.”
A fan also came up and said that Raimi told him there are chances of this happening.
A Sam Raimi-directed ‘Spider-Man 4’ seemed even more possible after Maguire’s surprise return in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Still, there’s no official plan right now for a new movie with him.
All three Spider-Man movies are currently streaming on Disney+.
