Appearing on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’ Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed that she is considering reprising her role as Buffy in a potential project. Gellar, who had previously ruled out the idea, shared her changing perspective on the matter.
“I always used to say no, because it’s in its bubble and it’s so perfect,” Gellar said during the talk show. “But watching ‘[And Just Like That…]’ and seeing ‘[Dexter: Original Sin],’ and realizing there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, ‘Well, maybe.’”
Gellar also noted that ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ doesn’t necessarily have to be limited to a prequel and that there are numerous storytelling possibilities.
“It could be anything,” Gellar added. “It’s a universe. It makes you realize that in this world, we need those heroes, I think, more so than ever.”
She added, “I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done,” Gellar said about returning as the character. “We wrapped that up.”
‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ ran from 1997 to 2003 and was based on the 1992 movie of the same name. The show followed Gellar as Buffy, a young woman chosen to battle vampires and other supernatural threats.
