‘Scream 7’ Gets New Update: Release Date Is Now Revealed

The film is officially coming to theaters in 2026, and Neve Campbell is returning as Sidney Prescott.

Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures announced that ‘Scream 7’ will be hitting theaters on February 27, 2026. The news was revealed on October 1, 2024, surprising fans nearly three years after the release of Scream VI in 2023.

Neve Campbell played Sidney Prescott in the first five ‘Scream’ movies, and she will be returning to the franchise after sitting out ‘Scream 6.’ Campbell shared her excitement on Instagram, writing, “It’s gonna be a killer 2026.” This confirms her involvement in the new movie. She also mentioned that the upcoming film will focus on Sidney. Courteney Cox appeared as Gale Weathers in every ‘Scream’ installment so far, but she recently said she hasn’t been approached yet.

The movie will be directed by ‘Scream’ franchise creator Kevin Williamson. Guy Busick, who wrote ‘Scream V’ and ‘Scream VI,’ wrote the script for this sequel. Executive producers are Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein will also produce the movie.

The sequel was expected to feature the return of ‘Scream VI’ stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. The two played sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter. Barrera was fired from the project following social media posts that were seen as controversial by the studio.

‘Scream 7’ will mark 30 years since the original movie was released in 1996. Campbell stated that the new film’s concept convinced her to return.
