Sean Gunn Sparks ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Debate With Recent MCU Update

Gunn’s take on returning to Marvel leaves ‘Guardians’ fans unsure.

Sean Gunn raised ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ questions with a recent MCU update.

After helping Kraglin in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ Gunn is now working at DC Studios with his brother, James. He’s voicing Weasel and G.I. Robot in ‘Creature Commandos’ and playing Maxwell Lord in ‘Superman.’

When asked if this means he won’t return to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ Gunn said he doesn’t know what the future holds. He told ComicBook, “I do not know the answer to that, I really don’t.”

He continued, “And why I don’t know the answer to that is twofold, because number one, I don’t know what Marvel’s plans are. But when they call, I answer their calls. But I don’t know what they have planned or if they have any plans that they’re interested in talking to me about.”

“But the same is kind of true for DC. I’ve got these three different characters, but they’re all very different. And they live in very different corners of this universe. And I have less information about how prominent they might be in this stuff going forward. So I’m still taking it as it comes. I love the work. If I can do all of it, I’ll do all of it. So I’m just kind of taking it as it comes,” Sean further shared.

“I came into the whole process of working at Marvel once the machine was kind of already up and running smoothly and doing well. DC, I’ve done ‘Suicide Squad,’ but now they’re kind of overhauling it, and it’s new ever since my brother took over as head of the studio. It’s sort of been a new process for them. So it would be, it’s really kind of true, like trying to compare apples and oranges,” Gunn previously said of his work in the MCU and DCU.

Marvel’s plans for more ‘Guardians’ stories depend on if Kevin Feige and the studio want to continue without James Gunn. In ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ Kraglin is a key part of the new team, led by Rocket. If the team returns, Kraglin will probably be there.

‘Creature Commandos’ premieres on Max on December 5.
