The trailer for ‘Snow White’ shared by Walt Disney Studios on X, has faced backlash, with negative responses continuing to mount. On YouTube, the trailer has received over 700,000 dislikes.
Despite garnering over 56 million views, the ‘Snow White’ trailer — featuring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen — has only received 27,000 likes compared to more than 705,000 dislikes.
YouTube removed the option to publicly view the number of dislikes on videos some time ago. However, this data is still accessible through certain sites, and reports suggest that the numbers for ‘Snow White’ are far from promising.
One significant point of contention among fans of the original story is the casting of Zegler, a Latina actress, as Snow White. Critics argue that the character in the 1937 animated film is described as having “skin as white as snow.” Zegler has clarified that in the live-action version, the name ‘Snow White’ serves as a reference to the character surviving a snowstorm as a baby.
“For being brown, for having brown skin, for playing ‘Snow White.’ There was a lot of harassment from a certain group of people—they were showing up at my apartment and screaming profanities,” the actress revealed.
Disney’s ‘Snow White’ opens exclusively in theaters March 21, 2025.
