Sony Drops New Trailer For ‘Venom 3,’ And It Doesn’t Make Sense

It seems to change key events from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’

Sony has just released a new trailer for ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ and it left fans scratching their heads.

The confusion starts with how the trailer seems to change a key part of the plot from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’

In the end credits of ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage,’ Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is teleported to Earth-616, which is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There, he watches a news report about Spider-Man. But in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ it was revealed that Eddie never left his resort, and a small piece of the Venom symbiote was left behind.

The new trailer shows Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character getting a hold of this piece of Venom. This changes the story from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Fans are confused because this suggests that the scene might now be happening in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) instead of the MCU.

The trailer also brings back the bartender (Cristo Fernández) who complains about Eddie not paying his bill in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ This scene now shows Ejiofor’s character collecting the Venom piece. Rhys Ifans appears in the movie, but not as his character from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ He helps Eddie get to Las Vegas.

It’s confusing if the bar and bartender exist in both the MCU and SSU and if Eddie left identical pieces of Venom in both places. You can watch the trailer and decide for yourself.

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is set to hit theaters on October 25 and features Tom Hardy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, Stephen Graham, and Rhys Ifans. The film is directed by Kelly Marcel and produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Kelly Marcel, Tom Hardy, and Hutch Parker.
