If you were hoping to see Taylor Swift in the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ we have sad news for you.
Fans thought Swift may play Dazzler, and some even believed they saw a glimpse of her in a teaser for the movie. There was also an IMAX poster for Best Friends Day that showed Deadpool and Wolverine wearing friendship bracelets similar to the ones from Swift’s Eras Tour. However, Entertainment Weekly recently confirmed that Swift won’t be appearing in the film.
The rumors about Swift being in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ started back in September 2022. Fans noticed that the announcement trailer for the movie was filmed in the same house where Swift filmed her ‘All Too Well: The Short Film.’
The speculation grew in October 2023 when Swift was seen with Reynolds and Jackman, and director Shawn Levy at a Kansas City Chiefs football game. Swift was at the game to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Chiefs.
Nobody Denied Her Cameo Until The End
Levy and Reynolds didn’t confirm or deny rumors about Swift in interviews. Levy said that he regretted not shutting them down earlier:
“I regret that I was not quicker to shut it down the first time, so I’m going to default to my very true situation, which is as much as we love each other, the fear of death is so intense in me regarding Ryan and how he desperately wants to avoid talking about all of these proliferating rumors.”
Reynolds added in another interview that the Deadpool universe is full of surprises, but he didn’t directly address the Swift rumors.
Taylor Swift won’t be in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ but the movie will still feature many surprises and cameos. Some of the returning characters from the previous Deadpool films include Vanessa, Blind Al, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Colossus, Peter/Sugar Bear, Dopinder, and Shatterstar.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set to release on July 26, 2024.
