Fans of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man can finally get excited as ‘Spider-Man 4’ just received a major update.
After a long period without much news, Marvel now confirmed the director, writers, and filming schedule for the movie.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing ‘Spider-Man 4.’ Cretton is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he directed ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’
Marvel also confirmed that the writers from the previous ‘Spider-Man’ movies, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, will be returning to write the script for the new film. These two were responsible for Holland’s previous ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy.
As for when filming will begin, reports say that filming is set to start in early 2025. There aren’t any official details about the story yet, but it’s expected that more information will come out later in 2024. The movie could explore Peter Parker’s darker side after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ or it might dive into another multiverse adventure.
Cretton’s role in the MCU doesn’t stop with ‘Spider-Man 4.’ He’s also directing the upcoming ‘Shang-Chi 2,’ and he’s one of the creators behind the new Disney+ series ‘Wonder Man.’ He was originally set to direct ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ but that plan changed earlier this year. Now, the Russo Brothers are taking over the Avengers project, and it has been renamed ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
Several other directors were considered to direct ‘Spider-Man 4’ before Cretton, including Sam Raimi, who directed the original Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, and the ‘Ms. Marvel’ directing duo, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
