Andrew Garfield stepped away from the spotlight for the past few years but made a comeback with his latest film, ‘We Live in Time,’ in 2024. While the romantic drama is his current focus, he has his eye on other genres for future projects.
“I’m considering all these things right now,” the actor recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “I would love to make a film or a show or something that has the feeling of the stuff that I was brought up on, like ’90s, early 2000s. Amblin Entertainment, adventure, swashbuckling, Indiana Jones-style. Humorous, dramatic, romantic — a big crowd-pleasing epic adventure. That would be really, really fun to do.”
He added, “I was [also] thinking about great like films of ‘Fatal Attraction,’ ‘Unfaithful,’ Adrian Lyne. Like an erotic thriller.”
Garfield’s last major appearance was in Hulu’s true crime drama series ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’ in 2022. ‘We Live in Time’ arrived this year at the Toronto International Film Festival as his first theatrical release since 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ The movie recently had its European premiere, closing the 72nd San Sebastian Film Festival ahead of its limited U.S. release on October 11.
Joining Garfield in ‘We Live in Time’ is Florence Pugh, along with Adam James, Marama Corlett, Aoife Hinds, Nikhil Parmar, Heather Craney, and Douglas Hodge. John Crowley directed the film, with the script by Nick Payne, and production handled by Benedict Cumberbatch’s company, SunnyMarch.
