‘Spider-Man’s Tom Holland Shares The Weird But Sweet Reason He Googles Zendaya

Holland and Zendaya first met filming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ in 2017 and started dating in 2021.

During a recent appearance on Samah Dada’s On The Menu podcast, Tom Holland shared why he sometimes looks up Zendaya online.

“The last thing I googled was actually Zendaya,” Holland said on the podcast while promoting his new non-alcoholic drink brand, Bero. “I’m not on [social media], and I delete it when I’m not using it.”

The actor added, “So, sometimes, like, it’s more of a bit of an anxiety thing, but I’ll check to see if everything’s good and to make sure we’re all cool. So I just give her a little Google and look [through] the news, and I’m like, ‘She’s good.'”

The couple met while filming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ in 2017 and started dating in 2021, keeping their relationship mostly private. Zendaya shared with Elle about the challenges of balancing privacy with a public relationship.

She explained last year, “I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. You can’t hide. That’s not fun either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

“It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist,” the actress further said.

The couple is open about their feelings and appreciation for how they met. Holland mentioned at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards that he and Zendaya like rewatching ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ to relive that special time.

Holland noted, “Zendaya and I will, every now and then, watch ‘Spider-Man 1’ and reminisce about being 19 and making those movies again. I love those movies, and I love savoring those moments, so I try not to watch them as often as I would maybe like to because it’s so special. It’s such a luxury, such a gift to be able to sit down and sort of relive your youth.”

Holland played Spider-Man, and Zendaya played his love interest, MJ. They returned to these roles in two more movies: ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ in 2019 and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in 2021.
