One of the most-known film directors, Spike Lee marked a milestone through his verified Instagram account, on March 24; the founder of 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks celebrated the 15th anniversary of the release of the heist thriller film ‘Inside Man.’
Lee first uploaded the official release poster for the film, starring Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, William Dafoe, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jodie Foster, and then added a lengthy caption to mark the day. Black Movie Award-winning director paid homage to the cast and the crew with these words:
“Inside Man is my 4th collaboration with the great Denzel Washington and his 2nd time going toe to toe with the late Christopher Plummer – first time ın Malcolm X.”
Leading his tribute to one of his favorite directors Sidney Lumet, who directed ‘Dog Day‘ afternoon, Lee continued his message as follows:
“This film ıs packed with an amazing cast ıncluding Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Chiwetel Ejiofor, William Dafoe and also has one of my favorite of many Terence Blanchard scores.”
As fans already know, ‘Inside Man,’ written by Russell Gewirtz was released on March 24, 2006, through Universal Pictures. Garnering $184.4 million box office despite its $45 million budget, the film received positive reviews from critics who praised its direction, the performances by the cast.
So much so that, in its release year, the American Film Institute marked the film as one of the top ten films, and it also ranked at 21th as the highest-grossing film released worldwide.
