Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Lee Seo-hwan, and director Hwang Dong-hyuk recently took turns reading, confirming, and denying ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 fan theories on Reddit during a segment with Vanity Fair.
When a Reddit user speculated, “Deok-su probably survived and is one of the pink soldier now,” the team responded by addressing another popular fan theory: “I also believe that II-nam is Gi-hun’s father. A lot of people have theorized that Oh II-nam was Gi-hun’s father.” They acknowledged that this theory is widely discussed among fans.
Then Le Byung Han asked, “Isn’t that the ‘Star Wars’ story?”
Lee Seo-Hwan replied, “It’s the ‘Star Wars’ story but also a trope in K-dramas.”
‘Squid Game’ recently made headlines when actor Park Sung-hoon, one of the show’s stars, faced backlash for sharing an explicit parody of the Netflix series on social media. Following the criticism, Park apologized for the post.
In an interview with Variety, series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that Season 3 of ‘Squid Game’ is expected to air in the summer or fall of next year.
