Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto Is Still Hopeful About His Return As Mister Spock

The actor thinks the franchise is big enough to bring him back.

Zachary Quinto last played Mister Spock in 2016’s ‘Star Trek Beyond’ and recently shared his hopes to reprise the role in a new project.

“The great thing is ‘Star Trek’ is a limitless universe,” he said in an interview with Variety about his new drama, ‘Brilliant Minds.’ “Look at all the television shows, look at all the stories, look at all the characters and timelines. Anything is possible. That’s the joy of the franchise. That’s why it’s lasted for 55, 60 years. I’m open to it. I would love it. I would absolutely love it.”

The actor added that a new ‘Star Trek’ installment would have a brighter fate compared to other franchises like ‘Heroes,’ whose sequel show didn’t reach expected numbers.

“There’s no cutoff,” he explained. “The original cast did movies for decades, well into their 50s, 60s. The stories might be different. We might not be running as fast on the other planets, but I think anything’s possible, and I think there’s nothing more fulfilling as an artist than to come back to something after time has passed, and cultivate a relationship with it from a completely different perspective, and a completely new point of view.”

The ‘Star Trek’ universe started with a three-season series in 1966. Since then, it has expanded with spinoffs, prequels, and sequels across TV and film.

A five-season show, ‘Discovery,’ that took place a decade before the original story, just ended in May though it will return with its first TV film, ‘Star Trek: Section 31,’ in early 2025.

Olatunde Osynsanmi will direct the upcoming Paramount+ film from a script by Craig Sweeny. Michelle Yeoh will star as Philippa Georgiou along with Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, and Sam Richardson.
