Billy Dee Williams recently shared his thoughts on Donald Glover, who played a younger Lando Calrissian in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story.’ Speaking with Radio Times, the actor claimed he is the one and only true Lando.
Williams praised Glover’s talent in bringing Lando to a new generation. However, he stated that he was the one who created the character:
“He’s part of a whole new generation. He’ll create whatever he needs to create to bring appeal to the character. He’s a very talented young lad and very imaginative. I mean, it’s not for me to say what he should do with the character at this stage. I took care of the 20th century; now he’s got to take care of the 21st. I had a nice little lunch with him. He’s a delightful young man. Extremely talented. But I don’t see him… I mean, when it comes to Lando Calrissian there’s only one Lando Calrissian. I created that character.”
Williams May Return as Lando
Williams last appeared as Lando in 2019’s ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Still, he didn’t rule out returning to the role himself. He joked that a big paycheck could tempt him back:
“Pay me a lot of money, and I’ll sell my soul.”
Glover was expected to appear as Lando in a future movie. This project first started as a series but was later changed to a film. However, there have been no updates about the Lando movie since the announcement.
The ‘Star Wars’ franchise has several other projects in the works, including ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu‘ and a project featuring Daisy Ridley as Rey. Patty Jenkins’ ‘Rogue Squadron‘ movie is reportedly still in development.
