‘The Acolyte’ creator Leslye Headland recently explained why she insisted on casting Dafne Keen.
Headland told Entertainment Weekly that she’s pretty excited about Keen’s casting. She admitted that she was determined to cast the ‘Logan’ actress, and she had her reasons why:
“I was like, ‘We have to get Dafne, period.’ I just wanted to see X23 with a lightsaber in their hand. That has to happen.”
Keen Inspired Her to Create the Character
The director spoke to IGN in another interview. She praised Keen’s performance in ‘Logan’ and revealed that the young actress actually inspired her to create Jecki:
“Somebody like Dafne Keen, I’d loved so much in ‘Logan’ that I wrote this character, and I was like, ‘You know what would be great? I’d love to see X-23 with a lightsaber. How do we make that happen?'”
