Stephen Amell is still optimistic about ‘Heels’ Season 3 even though it was canceled.
“I think that Season 3 is a possibility, I think that people are going to have to watch it on Netflix,” the actor said in an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast. “It’s gonna have to line up schedule-wise for me, because I now have another job that’s in first position.”
He continued, “But, listen, without trying to spoil it, we didn’t want to send my character out quite literally on his back. There was always the idea that we would tell more of a story, and I think there’s more to be told. I think that if we did come back, you might see a little bit of a time jump.”
“I thought that Jack would be much more stubborn for much longer,” Amell previously said of the second season. “I thought it was a really interesting storytelling technique to basically plant him in an empty house at the end of the first episode and have him look around and go, ‘Well, I [messed] up, and now I gotta fix it. My dad died. It broke me. I gotta fix it. Away I go.’ It’s very cool to have a very clear and concise path for the character to take for the second season. That was great.”
Last month, it was announced that ‘Heels’ would start streaming on Netflix on September 15. If it does well, it might continue. ‘Heels,’ which began in 2021, was canceled in 2023 after two seasons. It ended with a cliffhanger about Jack Spade and the DWL.
In the finale, called ‘High Flying,’ the DWL are trying to get a big deal to stream their shows online. But at the end of the episode, Jack gets hurt in a match with Ace and can’t feel his legs.
Netflix has revived other canceled shows before. For example, Netflix saved ‘Lucifer’ after Fox canceled it and gave it three more seasons. Shows like ‘Designated Survivor’ and ‘Manifest’ were also saved by Netflix. So, there is hope that Heels could return and get a proper ending.
