A new member has joined ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ team: U.K. comedy star Stephen Merchant.
The actor announced the news on Instagram with a photo of himself in a Daryl Dixon template. He also wrote, “As a fan of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,’ I was excited when they asked me to join the WD universe for Season 3. But don’t ask me for spoilers — my lips are sealed.”
Merchant is well-known in the U.K. for co-writing and co-directing ‘The Office’ and ‘Extras’ with Ricky Gervais. He also worked on ‘The Outlaws,’ ‘Logan,’ and ‘Jojo Rabbit.’ He played the AI character Wheatley in the video game ‘Portal 2.’
‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ started in September 2023 with six episodes. Before that, the show was renewed for a second season called ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol.’ Season 2 is now airing and continues Daryl’s journey in France as he tries to return home. Along the way, he meets a nun named Isabelle and a child named Laurent.
‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ season 3 was renewed in July 2024. Last month, set photos showed a big change for this season. It’s confirmed that season 3 will take place in Spain and France. The photos also suggested that Daryl and Carol would go to London, England.
Filming for season 3 began in early September 2024 and is on track to follow a yearly schedule. It was confirmed that Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will return.
The cast of ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ season 3 added Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, and Alexandra Masangkay as main characters. We don’t know what roles they will play yet. Candela Saitta and Hugo Arbués will also have smaller roles.
