Steve Carell Mocks Marvel In New ’Despicable Me 4’ Video

Carell took a swing at both Marvel and DC films by introducing the ‘Mega-Verse.’

Steve Carell introduced a mock cinematic universe for Mega Minions to make fun of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga in a new ‘Despicable Me 4’ promo on YouTube. The actor stood in front of a scroll that looked like Kevin Feige’s presentations and said:

“By now, you probably heard about the Mega Minions. Five Minions with incredible power and zero responsibility. But ‘Despicable Me 4’ is just the beginning. Presenting Illumination’s Mega-Verse! 50 interconnected Mega Minions stories. Shared across a variety of mediums on an irregular basis for the next 100 years.”

Some of the titles on screen read, ‘Mega Minions: Despicable in Denver,’ ‘Mega Minions: The Tax Write-Off,’ ‘Mad Mega: Furry Road,’ and ‘Mega Minions: Electric Gru-Galoo.’ Carell continued:

“From their debut in ‘Despicable Me 4,’ the Mega Minions are charting a course from the big screen to the small screen, from the future of the present to the present of the past, and from stages of Broadway to the ice rinks of Jacksonville’s Florida. Excited? You should be! Begin your Mega-Verse journey today by pre-ordering tickets to ‘Despicable Me 4!’ It’s going to be truly magnificent.”

The video also took a jab at DC Studios’ ‘Black Adam’ in the caption:

“The hierarchy of power in the Illumination universe is about to change.”

The Upcoming Film In The Illumination Franchise

‘Despicable Me 4’ comes out next month as the sixth movie in the franchise. Illumination’s description reads:

“Following the 2022 summer blockbuster phenomenon of Illumination’s ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru,’ which earned almost $1 billion worldwide, the biggest global animated franchise in history now begins a new chapter as Gru (Oscar® nominee Steve Carrell) and Lucy (Oscar® nominee Kristen Wiig) and their girls—Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Madison Polan)—welcome a new member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad.”

Gru faces off new super-villains Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell) and Valentina (Sofia Vergara) along with his family in the new film. The Minions and a new baby join them in the fight.

The cast includes Kristen Wiig, Pierre Coffin, Joey King, Miranda Cosgrove, Stephen Colbert, Steve Coogan, Renaud, Madison Polan, Dana Gaier, and Chloe Fineman.

Previous installment’s producer, Chris Renaud, directs the script by Mike White and Ken Daurio.
