Steve Carell announced that he will not be appearing in the new ‘The Office’ spinoff series.
At the premiere of his new movie ‘IF,’ Carell said he will watch the spinoff but won’t be part of it. He told The Hollywood Reporter:
“I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It’s just a new thing and there’s really no reason for my character to show up in something like that.”
Carell is excited about the new series, though:
“But I’m excited about it, it sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea — I guess it’s set in a failing newspaper company. And I worked with Domhnall Gleeson, who is one of the leads, I did ‘The Patient’ with him and he’s an excellent actor and a super nice guy so I think it’ll be great.”

There Are Some Details We Know
The new spinoff is created by Greg Daniels, who made the American version of ‘The Office,’ along with Michael Koman, the creator of ‘Nathan For You.’ It will follow the same mockumentary style and take place in the Dunder Mifflin universe. Production is set to start this summer, and Peacock ordered 10 episodes.
Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore will play employees at a struggling newspaper. The documentary crew from ‘The Office’ will find the newspaper while looking for a new subject to film.
‘The Office’ originally ended more than ten years ago but continues to gain new fans on Peacock. Lisa Katz, president of NBCUniversal Entertainment, said the show still has many fans and that the new series will introduce a fresh setting and new characters in the same universe.
