According to a new rumor circulating on the internet, Henry Cavill, known for roles in ‘Superman’, ‘The Witcher’, and ‘Deadpool 3‘, is in discussions to star in Simon Kinberg’s upcoming ‘Star Wars‘ trilogy.
It was previously reported that Lucasfilm is developing a new ‘Star Wars’ trilogy, with Simon Kinberg (‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’) tapped to write and produce all three films. The latest rumor suggests that Lucasfilm has approached Cavill for a potential role in the series.
Cavill has portrayed iconic characters such as ‘Superman’ in the DCEU, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s ‘The Witcher‘, and a Wolverine variant in ‘Deadpool 3‘. He is also set to star in the upcoming ‘Highlander‘ reboot and is rumored to take on another role in the MCU.
The actor has previously expressed his love for the ‘Star Wars‘ franchise, and news outlet MTTSH claims he is currently in talks with Lucasfilm.
Several years ago, Cavill shared his thoughts about ‘Star Wars‘, saying, “I am a fan of them. I would have to read a script and speak to a director before I could possibly say if I’d be interested in being a movie it’s not as simple as you know. Yes, it’d be fun and ideal but what if the script sucks…you’ve got to keep your fingers crossed that it works.”
It was originally reported that these new films would continue the Skywalker Saga with episodes 10, 11 and 12. However, speculation now leans towards Kinberg starting a new saga, joining the ranks of James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover on ‘Star Wars‘ projects.
It’s unclear what Lucasfilm has planned, but recent reports indicate that Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, will be part of the trilogy.
