During an appearance on the show Hot Ones, Sydney Sweeney opened up about her experience wearing the Spider-Woman costume for the upcoming film ‘Madame Web.’
Sweeney, who stars as Julia Cornwall, aka Spider-Woman, in Sony’s ‘Madame Web,’ revealed the making process of the costumes, saying:
“I was in Boston already — we filmed in Boston — and we had this really cool skin done of our body so that they could get a full 3D measurement of us. And they showed us sketches, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, that’s so cool!’ because it had full 3D sketches of our faces. And when I put it on, I truly … I felt like a superhero. It was the coolest thing ever.”

Will Spider-Man Join Madame Web?
Directed by S.J. Clarkson, ‘Madame Web’ promises to be different from conventional superhero narratives. It presents a standalone origin story of Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic with possible clairvoyant abilities, portrayed by Dakota Johnson. The plot unfolds as Webb encounters three young women with powerful destinies while having revelations about her past.
The film’s setting is 2003, prior to Spider-Man’s existence. During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Dakota Johnson answered the question that was possibly on many fans’ minds — will we see Spider-Man in this universe?
“It’s her own world. It’s 2003, so it’s before Spider-Man even existed. So, he will not be in this movie. It’s a superhero world from a female perspective.”
Alongside Johnson and Sweeney, the film features Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Tahar Rahim. Rahim plays the antagonist, Ezekiel Sims. Rumors suggest Adam Scott may portray Ben Parker, Peter Parker’s uncle.
In addition to her role in ‘Madame Web,’ Sweeney’s upcoming projects include ‘Immaculate,‘ ‘Eden,‘ and ‘Echo Valley.‘
‘Madame Web’ is slated for a February 14, 2024 release. Thanks to Sony’s recent deal with the Canadian-based service, the film will stream on Crave following its theatrical release. You can watch the trailer below.
