Sydney Sweeney Promises An ‘Entirely Different’ Cassie Howard For ‘Euphoria’ Season 3

Sydney Sweeney is preparing to return for ‘Euphoria’s Cassie Howard for the third season.

In a recent conversation with Cosmopolitan, Sydney Sweeney opened up about the journey of her character, Cassie Howard, in Season 3 of ‘Euphoria.’

“We did have a long time between season one and season two, but especially now with the time jump, it’s a new process for me,” said the actress about what to expect from the third season.

She continued, “I’m kind of just learning as I go and being open for whatever’s to come. But I’m also really excited. I love Cassie. She is always such a thrilling character to play, so I’m really looking forward to what’s gonna happen in her life.”

All the main actors are returning for season 3, including Sweeney, Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Storm Reid, and Alexa Demie. But Barbie Ferreira won’t be back, as she left after season 2. Also, Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, passed away in July 2023 and won’t be in the new season.

“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on ‘Euphoria’ in January,” Francesca Orsi, an HBO executive, noted. “We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of ‘Euphoria’ to life for the fans.”

HBO previously announced that the new season will start with a time jump, moving the characters out of high school. “There’s been a lot of back and forth … One of the issues I think that Sam is thinking about is that he doesn’t want to have it in high school anymore,” HBO boss Casey Bloys said. “That’s where it was set and what made sense then.”

He added, “So when you take it out of that, there’s a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far in the future to set it and all that stuff. But I think he’s got a take that he’s excited about, and he’s busy writing.”

‘Euphoria’ season 3 faced years of delays due to Hollywood strikes, rewrites, cast availability, and other challenges. The production timeline has been uncertain for over two years. Now, the season is finally in progress.
