On Friday, SYFY and USA Network announced that ‘Chucky’ wouldn’t return for a fourth season. Creator Don Mancini shared his thoughts about the news in a statement to Deadline and a tweet on X.
The writer linked the outlet’s report about the cancellation in a tweet and wrote in capitals, “He’ll be back.”
“I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have,” he further shared in the article. “I’d like to thank UCP/SYFY/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He ALWAYS comes back.”
‘Chucky’ marked Brad Dourif’s return in the titular role. Its story followed the events after a teen bought Chucky at a yard sale, not knowing it was possessed by a serial killer.
Season 3 ended in May, leaving fans on a cliffhanger. Chucky and Jennifer Tilly’s Tiffany returned to their doll forms and set off to find their child GG while the show’s three leads found themselves stuck in dolls as well.
“Kinda twisting the knife to cancel #Chucky so close to Halloween,” Tilly wrote about the cancellation on X. “That’s like canceling Santa at Christmas.”
The cast also included Zackary Arthur, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Devon Sawa. Don Mancini executive produced alongside Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner, and Jeff Renfroe.
